Top 10 benefits of Ashwagandha Powder

Benefits of Ashwagandha Powder

Ashwagandha is an ancient medicinal herb.

It is classified as an adaptogen.  That means that your body can help manage stress.

Ashwagandha also provides many other benefits to your body and brain.

For example, it improves brain function, lowers blood sugar and cortisol levels, and helps fight symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Here are 10 science-backed benefits of Ashwagandha.

1.This is an Ancient medicinal herb.

Ashwagandha is one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda and a type of alternative medicine based on the principles of Indian naturopathic medicine.

It has been used for over 3,000 years to relieve stress, increase energy levels, and improve concentration.

Ashwagandha is a Sanskrit word for horse scent, referring to both its unique scent and its ability to enhance.

The plant name is Withania somnifera and is known by several other names such as Indian ginseng and winter cherries.

Ashwagandha plants are small shrubs with yellow flowers native to India and North Africa.  Extracts or powders from the roots or leaves of plants are used in the treatment of various conditions.

2.Lower blood sugar.

Several studies have shown that Ashwagandha lowers blood sugar.
One in vitro study found that it increases insulin secretion and increases the sensitivity of myositis insulin.

Some human studies suggest that it may lower blood glucose levels in healthy and diabetic persons.

In addition, a 4-week study among people with schizophrenia reduced the fasting of blood glucose by an average of 13.5 mg / dL in people treated with Ashwagandha, compared to 4.5 mg / placebo in those treated with placebo  .  dL reduced.

In addition, a small study among 6 people with type 2 diabetes found that 30 days of supplementation with Ashwagandha lowered fasting blood glucose levels.  However, the results were questionable because this study did not include a control group.

3.Has anti-cancer effect.

according to studies Ashwagandha Compound - Helps to cause apoptosis.  This is the programmed death of cancer cells.
It also inhibits the growth of new cancer cells in various ways.

First, withaferin is thought to promote the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cancer cells and disrupt its function.  Second, it may reduce the resistance of cancer cells to apoptosis.

research suggests that it may be useful in treating different types of cancer, including breast, lung, colon, brain, and ovarian cancer.

In one study, mice with ovarian tumors treated with withaferin alone or in combination with anti-cancer agents showed a 70%-80% reduction in tumor growth.  This treatment also prevented the spread of cancer to other organs.

There is no evidence to suggest that Ashwagandha has a similar effect on humans, but current research encourages it.

4.Lower cortisol levels.

Cortisol is known as a stress hormone because it responds to stress and is released by the adrenal glands when blood sugar is too low.

Unfortunately, in some cases, cortisol levels can increase chronically, which can lead to high blood sugar levels and increased abdominal fat storage.

Studies have shown that Ashwagandha helps lower cortisol levels.

In a study of chronically stressed adults, adults supplemented with Ashwagandha had significantly greater reductions in cortisol compared to controls.  Those who took the highest dose experienced an average reduction of 30%.

5.Reduce the symptoms of depression.

Although some studies suggest that Ashwagandha may help relieve depression.

One controlled 60-day study among 64 stressed adults reduced 79% in severe depression among those who ingested 600 mg of Ashwagandha extract per day.  However, the placebo group reported a 10% increase.

Only one participant in this study had a history of depression.  Therefore, the relevance of the results is unknown.

6.increases testosterone and increases fertility in men.

Ashwagandha supplements can have a strong impact on testosterone levels and reproductive health.

In one study of 75 infertile men, the Ashwagandha-treated group showed increased sperm count and motility.

In addition, this treatment significantly increased testosterone levels.

The researchers also reported that the group consuming the herbs increased antioxidant levels in the blood.

In another study, men who had Ashwagandha due to stress experienced higher antioxidant levels and better sperm quality.  After 3 months of treatment, 14% of male partners became pregnant.

7. Increase muscle mass and strength.

Studies have shown that Ashwagandha can improve body composition and increase strength.

In a study to determine a safe and effective dose of Ashwagandha, healthy men who ingested 750 to 1250 mg per day of ground Ashwagandha root gained muscle strength after 30 days.

In another study, people who took Ashwagandha significantly improved muscle strength and size.  It also more than doubled the reduction in body fat percentage compared to the placebo group.

8.Lowers cholesterol and triglycerides.

Ashwagandha helps to improve heart health by lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels in addition to its anti-inflammatory effects.

Animal studies have shown that these blood fat levels are significantly reduced.

One study in rats found that total cholesterol and triglyceride levels were reduced by almost 53% and 45%, respectively (28Trusted Source).

Although controlled human studies have reported less dramatic results, we have seen some impressive improvements in these markers.

In a 60-day study among chronically stressed adults, the highest dose of standardized Ashwagandha extract reduced LDL (bad) cholesterol by 17% and averaged triglycerides by 11%.

9.Improve brain function including memory.

Research suggests that Ashwagandha can reduce memory and brain function problems caused by injuries and illness.

Research has shown that it promotes antioxidant activity that protects nerve cells from harmful free radicals.

In one study, Ashwagandha-treated epileptic rats almost completely reversed the spatial memory deficits.  This is probably caused by reduced oxidative stress.

Ashwagandha has traditionally been used in Ayurvedic medicine to promote memory, but few human studies have been done in this area.

In one control study, healthy men taking 500 mg standardized extract daily reported significant improvements in response time and task performance compared with men receiving placebo.

In a further 8-week study among 50 adults, taking 300 mg of Ashwagandha root extract twice daily can significantly improve memory, task performance and alertness.  Shown.

10.Safe for most people and widely available.

Ashwagandha is a safe supplement for most people, but the long-term effects are unknown.

However, some people, such as pregnant and lactating women, should not use this remedy.

People with autoimmune diseases should also avoid Ashwagandha without the permission of their healthcare provider.  This includes people with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Hashimoto's thyroiditis and type 1 diabetes.

In addition, people taking medication for thyroid disease should be careful when taking Ashwagandha as some people may have elevated levels of thyroid hormone.

Your blood sugar and blood pressure levels may also drop, and you may need to adjust your dose if you take it.

The recommended dose of Ashwagandha depends on the type of supplement.  The extract is more effective than the root and leaf powder of Ashwagandha.  Follow the directions on the label.

Standardized root extract is usually taken once or twice a day in 450-500 mg capsules.

It is available at several supplement manufacturers and is available at a variety of retail stores, including health food stores and vitamin stores.

We also have a large selection of high quality supplements available online.
